CS Wedding Guide :: Financial Responsibilities

Getting married and planning a wedding can be one of the most exciting times in a girl’s life.  However, when it comes to budgets and who should pay for what, tensions rise with stress levels. We thought it would be helpful to give brides an idea on how to handle financial responsibilities.  Hopefully this will give our brides a starting point and will alleviate some of the pressure.

BRIDE

  • The couples stationary and thank you notes
  • Wedding programs and guest book
  • Gifts for the bridesmaids and flower girl
  • Lodging for the bridesmaids
  • Groom’s wedding ring

GROOM

  • Bride’s engagement ring and wedding ring
  • Marriage license
  • Officiant’s fee
  • Groom’s wedding attire
  • Gifts for the groomsmen and ring bearer
  • Lodging for the groomsmen

BRIDE & GROOM

  • The honeymoon (traditionally this has been an expense of the groom, but as traditions change the couple has paid for this together)

BRIDE’S FAMILY

  • Engagement and wedding pictures
  • Wedding invitations
  • Wedding planner
  • Bridal attire
  • Ceremony fees (including rental of synagogue or chapel, chuppah, aisle carpets, and other decorating items)
  • Flowers (arrangements for ceremony and reception, as well as bridesmaids’ bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres)
  • Reception (site fees, caterer, food, rentals, bar, gratuities, decorations)
  • Music (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception)
  • Bridesmaids’ luncheon
  • Transportation for bridal party to ceremony and reception

GROOM’S FAMILY

  • Rehearsal dinner (or any other expense they elect, such as all beverage and liquor service, limousines, music for the reception, or photography and/or videography)
  • Bride’s bouquet

BRIDESMAIDS

  • Bridal shower
  • Bridesmaids’ dresses and shoes
  • Bachelorette party
  • Any traveling expenses

GROOMSMEN

  • Bachelor party
  • Rental of formal wear
  • Any traveling expenses

FLOWER GIRL & RING BEARER’S FAMILY

  • Attire for flower girl and ring bearer

GUEST

  • Traveling and lodging expenses (even if you’re having a destination wedding, guests pay their own way)

We understand that discussing financial responsibilities can be awkward,  but it is better for brides to be upfront with  friends and family rather than waiting until a problem occurs.
