So, I got married! It was the best day of my life and I wish I could live every moment over and over again. Don’t get me wrong, married life is fabulous, but I wish I could go back to that day and take in every moment just a little longer – there’s a part of me that’s kind of sad I’ll never get to live those sweet moments again. While working for Creative Solutions, I’ve learned a thing or two about weddings! I decided to do a “Bride Tells All” for myself, and share a little insight into what I’ve learned while being here at Creative, what I learned through planning my own wedding, and what I tell all current and future brides. With that being said, take a peek into what I consider the BEST DAY EVER!:

  • Tell us a little about you and your husband- How did you meet?, How long have you been dating?, What was the proposal like?, Etc.: David and I met on a mission trip about 8 years ago – shortly after, we became really good friends- and shortly after that, I fell in LOVE. To make a long story short, 6 years ago this coming January, we began dating and have been together ever since! On August 2, 2014 David proposed (finally!). I’m pretty good at finding out about surprises, so I was always worried that I would know when it was coming- but boy was I wrong. I thought he was in Raleigh for a softball tournament, and I thought I was going to a house with my best friend that she was house-sitting. When we arrived, he had decorated the boat dock with rose petals, candles, and pictures of us throughout the years. It was a day I’ll never forget!

  • Describe your wedding style/theme in a few words.: ”Country Chic”

  • What was the most stressful part of the wedding planning process?: Call me crazy, but I really did not stress much at all throughout the entire wedding planning process. Thankfully, since I work at Creative Solutions I had a pretty good idea of what was to come! I would say the thing I stressed about most was making sure that everyone was happy – and even then, it wasn’t anything I lost sleep over!

  • Do you have any helpful hints about the planning process?: Plan and pay for everything you can, as early as you can! I have so many friends that are planning their weddings, and this is the first piece of advice I give to all of them. Choosing our venue, photographer and videographer, cake, caterer, florist…etc. all within the first few months of wedding planning saved us from so much stress in the long run. The last two months before the wedding were full of excitement and sweet memories instead of stress and “bridezilla” mode! When you get engaged, buy a folder – yep, just a simple folder. In this folder, keep all contact from vendors, contracts, questions etc. Closer to your wedding, make a timeline of your wedding day. Because I created a timeline of our wedding day, myself, my bridesmaids, groomsmen, family, vendors, EVERYONE was on the exact same page at all times. You don’t want people asking you 100 questions all day while you’re getting ready – get that done ahead of time and enjoy the morning with you friends and family!

  • Finish the sentence: “I am so thankful that I took the time to…..”: Jump in the photobooth with my friends and family at the wedding! Pictures are my thing, I love them, I can never have enough of them – so, me and David taking the time to go take pictures with our guests in the photobooth really just made my night! Now, I get to look back on all of the hilarious pictures in one big album.

  • What was your favorite moment of your wedding/reception?: Gosh!, I loved everything about our ceremony and reception- It’s hard to choose favorites. One thing that I’ll always cherish about our ceremony is trading our purity rings for our wedding rings. David and I made a commitment way back in middle school to remain pure until marriage – so we took off our purity rings and traded them for our wedding rings. The entire reception was a blast- honestly, I can’t pick a favorite moment from the reception because the whole thing was just perfect. We danced the night away!

  • What special touch did you include in order to help make this wedding your own?: David and I like cake, but we don’t love cake. We LOVE chess cake and brownies (From Queen Bee, Mt.Holly – only the best of the best). So, we had bite size chess cake squares and brownies, along with glasses of milk! It was delish! — and I think all of the guests would agree!

  • If you could do anything differently, would you? If so, what would it be?: I’m totally going to be one of those people that say “I wouldn’t have changed anything!!” – because honestly, there isn’t one single thing that I would change about the entire process or the actual wedding day. Everything fell into place perfectly. At the end of the day, we were married, what could be better?!

Final advice to future brides: Hire an awesome videographer and photographer! Those are the 2 things (besides your cute husband) that you get to actually take home with you after the wedding – the flowers die, the cake gets eaten, but you’ll have your pictures and videos forever to look back on! Oh, and PS- if something goes wrong, chances are you’re the only one that even knows about it! Your guest don’t have a clue “what should have been” – just go with the flow, don’t let silly little details ruin the best day of your life!
